Prepare for Departure

2 Better to spend your time at funerals than at parties.

After all, everyone dies— So, the living should take this to heart.

3 Sorrow is better than laughter, for sadness has a refining influence on us.

4 A wise person thinks a lot about death, while a fool thinks only about having a good time. Ecclesiastes7:2-4

Did Solomon attend funerals? He counsels us to attend them.

Funerals aren’t  my favorite activity, sense of finality too strong.

Funeral attendance is promoted; a time to prepare for departure.

The Teacher says, “Take dying seriously; you’re going to die.

“It builds character,” he says. We say, “Not for me.”

We like laughter, we like celebrations, happiness is a blessing.

Apparently so is remembering the day of our death approaches.

Do you think about your death a lot? It’s wise.

Get serious with yourself. Eternity is closer than we realize.

Why’d  God create the heavens? To provide an ETERNAL home.
