Two Become One

5 Jesus said, ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? 6 So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.” 7 They said to him, “Why then did Moses command one to give a certificate of divorce and to send her away?” 8 He said to them, “Because of your hardness of heart Moses allowed you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it was not so. 9 And I say to you: whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery.” Matthew 19:5-9

Words…

haul loaded memories, trigger pain,

some carry bigger loads.

Divorce is a prize winner. Not the greatest sin. Sin is sin.

No greater, no lesser…all… disobeying God.

What does God say?

“The two shall become one.

Let not man separate. From the beginning it was not so.”

Two sinners, husband, wife.

Two egos, two pride filled stubborn, hard hearts.

No surprise, divorce a possibility.

Words?

His…

“Two become one, let no man separate.”

There are no “buts”, no “what ifs?”

The answer is NO.

God’s “no” cancels human objections.

Don’t trash the messenger.

There’s forgiveness… for all confessed sin.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
