Meeting the Offender

15 “If your brother or sister sins, go and point out their fault, just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over. 16 But if they will not listen, take one or two others along, so that ‘every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.’ 17 If they still refuse to listen, tell it to the church; and if they refuse to listen even to the church, treat them as you would a pagan or a tax collector. Matthew 18:15-17

Someone will fail.

We’re both offenders.

Do you ignore it?

Confront it?

Rather avoid confrontation?

Find it too messy?

There’s a Jesus way.

It considers the pride and ego of the guilty.

Go first to them, privately.

You have the license of Heaven. Tell them their offense.

Save this one from humiliation, allow them the blessing of being reconciled.

They know. Of all the people who know of this wrongdoing, they know.

Some are stubborn.

Go back a second time with more than one listener.

Repeat. Still stubborn?

Tell the worshippers.

Before you attempt anything, pray.

Let Jesus go first.

Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. Romans 12:10
