Don't Lose This

24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. 25 For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it. 26 What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul? 27 For the Son of Man is going to come in his Father’s glory with his angels, and then he will reward each person according to what they have done.

Matthew 16:24-27

It's not a message anyone wants to hear, or do.

Who thinks denying self is a good idea? Know anyone?

He doesn’t stop: “take up your cross” means death to self.

What do we do with “lose your life for me?”

You say, no one can do these things. You’re correct.

What is more valuable that ALL the world’s riches?

The answer’s blunt. Your soul. Do not lose your soul.

And the last sobers all: every person will be judged.

Wonder how any of this can happen? Answer: who’s speaking?

Believe Jesus’ words. Trust HIM. He CAME to rescue souls.

Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Matthew 11:29
