A Human Viewpoint

22 But Peter took him aside and began to reprimand him for saying such things. “Heaven forbid, Lord,” he said. “This will never happen to you!”

23 Jesus turned to Peter and said, “Get away from me, Satan! You are a dangerous trap to me. You are seeing things merely from a human point of view, not from God’s.” Matthew 16:22-23

Ever tell God what to do? Ever think God’s wrong?

We do. We have. We will again. “God you’re wrong.”

Peter had seen Jesus walk on water. Feed five thousand.

Only God does things like this. Heals sickness, numerous miracles.

Earlier Peter said, “You are the Son of God.”  Yet…

Peter tells Jesus, “You’re wrong. It can’t be like this.”

What about us? When do we say, “Wrong again God.”

How often do we see things from a human viewpoint?

Every moment.

Our human viewpoint is contaminated…

sin filled hearts.

Even then,

Jesus never rejected Peter.

He never rejects us.

5 Don’t love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said,

“I will never fail you.  I will never abandon you.” Hebrews 13:5
