Foolishness, Injustice, Risk

A circumzenithal arc…

5 There is an evil I have seen under the sun, the sort of error that arises from a ruler:
6 Fools are put in many high positions, while the rich occupy the low ones.7 I have seen slaves on horseback, while princes go on foot like slaves. 8 Whoever digs a pit may fall into it whoever breaks through a wall may be bitten by a snake. 9 Whoever quarries stones may be injured by them;  whoever splits logs may be endangered by them.

Ecclesiastes 10:5-9

Foolishness, injustice, risk.

Three words summarize everyday life on earth.

Expect foolishness; even from leaders.

Sorry, every human is foolish.

Injustice? Lower your expectations.

Unfair treatment of you and others?

Consistently!

And risk?

No insurance policy can minimize the risk of living.

We have hospitals and body shops.

Things rust, break, wear out; there is danger in daily life.

The source for all of this?  Sin.

It wasn’t that way in the beginning.

It won’t be that way someday.

One day there will be no foolishness, injustice, risk.

There are three other words:

Way.

Truth.

Life.

Find them in Jesus.

33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6
